Manhattan is a great destination. We stayed at the Comfort Inn which was pretty basic and nothing much to cheer about. However, if you go to Manhattan and spend most of your time in a hotel room, you're missing out.
There are so many tourist attractions and of most interest are:
* the World Trade Center (the Windows of the World bar on the 108th floor is fantastic).
* The Statue of Liberty is a nice tourist attraction (but don't go to the crown as it is a waste of time queing for what isn't a particularly good experience and a bit chlostrophobic).
* Natural History Museum is something that was surprisingly good and well presented. Seeing a fully constructed T-Rex from reel bones was unforgetable.
* The Empire State Building was fairly average. It is spoilt by security mesh around the viewing level which ruins the views greatly.
Amongst all of the traditional attractions, one of the less well known was the 'View' restaurant which was on the top floor of the Marriot hotel near Times Square. This is the most beautiful romantic restaurant you can possibly imagine. The restaurant rotates 360 degrees in 1 hour and you therefore get to look out to / and overlook the incredible sights of New York.
A thoroughly recommended destination.

Accommodation: Hotel Crowne Plaza (Times Square)

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza which is a really nice luxury hotel with all the facilities to allow for a fantastic trip. However, spending time in your hotel shouldn't be a major feature of a Manhattan holiday. We particularly enjoyed site seeing and shopping in Manhattan, along with central park which forms the only real relaxation options in this bustling city.
Our recommended attractions would have to be:
Liberty Island and the statue of liberty
The Empire State building
A broadway show or two
Central park
Natural History Museum
Not worth the hype attractions:
Ellis Island - Unless you are a US citizen and want to trace your ancestors journey to the US, there isn't much to excite you at this destination and time is prescious in Manhattan.

This was a great holiday!!! As with many nice experiences in life it came at a cost by splashing out in the luxury of the Marriott hotel near times square.
With a revolving restaurant on the top floor, luxury gym and boutique, the wife was always going to 'ruin' my bank balance. However, despite the cost it was well worth the treat of luxury in Manhattan.
We particularly liked 'Bloomingdales' and 'Macys' for shopping, empire state building and chrysler building for sight seeing and enjoying the large variety of evening entertainment on broadway.
Manhattan and New York in general has something for any age.

Manhattan really is an incredible destination. For those of you who like plenty of entertainment and sighseeing attractions, this is the place. Don't expect to get anything cheap though, this really is one of the most expensive cities I've visited in relation to drinks and food.
Recommended attractions would have to be:
Empire State Building
Statue of Liberty (although don't bother with trying to get to the 'crown')
The View (Revolving restaurant at the top of the Marriot)
A Broadway show
Central Park
Thoroughly recommended travel destination
