We visited Kuredu Island and woudl reccomend it to anyone. We stayed in the new reosrt (not suitable for children) and it was lovely. Food was great, service was great. Our villa was spotless and only had a few ants and a littl lizard in our open air bathroom. It rained a little in October but didnt spoil our holiday. One thing i would advise is to bring plenty of mozzie/sand fly protection, i had a few little bites but soem people were very badly bitten. We flew with emirates who were also 1st class. Would go every year if i could.

Biyadoo - June 2005 |
|
|
Biyadoo is a stunning island. I must have been to a different place than the 1st reviewer. The island is simple but very well run. The simplicity is its beauty. The beach is wonderful, pure soft white sand and there was a beach deck chair per person, also there were 2 foldable (and therefore transportable if wished) chairs, together with 2 beach mats. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff decorated our bed each day with flowers. The food was great - varied and of good quality.
The dive school was professional and helpful. My husband and I did the Advanced Padi course and were very happy with the instruction. Unlike the first reviewer we did not meet any Japanese holiday makers - most were English. There were 3 Dive instructors, 1 Japanese, 1 German and 1 Italian. All spoke fluent English. The house reef in only a few yards from the shore and the snorkelling in just wonderful.
I am sure Biyadoo will be updated in the next few years and I wuld advise anyone who has the chanve to go now - before it is turned into yet another soleless 5* which could be anywhere in the world. Experience the real Maldives - go to Biyadoo.

Biyadoo Island Resort - April 2004 |

We went to biyadoo with some trepidation after reading the other report on this site but nothing could be so far from the truth. We found a natural beautiful island with an excellent house reef. The food was good and the staff very helpful. My brother -in -law took his padi diving course while he was there and said the diving school were very professional. The rooms were basic but clean. There was a shortage of sunbeds but no one was 'fighting' over them. Entertainment at night was low key but thats what the maldives is all about if you want dicos go to mallorca. Overall an excellent holiday

Fihalhohi Island - March 2006 |

From the moment we boarded the first choice plane at manchester we knew all the reports we had read beforehand were accurate. First class service and plenty of room.on arrival at male we were shown to our island information desk then asked to wait in the small cafe area. Dont believe all the reports about overpriced drinks in the cafe just get what you want your on holiday for petes sake. Arrival at island greeted by hotel staff with cold towels and given light refreshment gardeners showed us to our rooms and from there on in could only describe holiday as paradise only thing that really spoilt our holiday was having to leave. needless to say am looking again for November.

Kandooma - May 2004 |

Booked this holiday last minute at a good price (£415pp Hb 1 WK)didn't really know what to expect. It is a clean and basic 2* resort and one of the cheapest in the Maldives. Apparently it has many good dive sites, so it is popular with divers and the snorkelling is fab. The rooms are basic, not hot water and you will be sharing with ants and lizards (in the bathrooms). Has a really nice swimming pool. Excusions here are good value/diverse including night fishing, island hopping, super snorkelling, dolphins and manta ray (prices between $5-$15 pp). Entertainment is poor, really nothing to do after dinner bar 2 'discos' pw, but then thats probably a good thing unless you enjoy getting down to the YMCA! The food however is BAD partically dinner, no choice set dinners with the same bland variations each day. Good if you like tinned asparigus and powered soup/ have no taste, or want a crash diet.Glad we were not staying for 2 weeks and forget it if your a vegetarian. My advice is take another suitcase packed with food.
Drinks are the same price as England.Be aware that they put 10% service charge on everthing. You will also get better service on your last day, when the workers are after a tip!! Overall it was good for how much we paid, but dont expect the earth and dont got for 2 weeks if you want to keep your sanity....

Laguna Beach - June 2003 |
|

Laguna Beach, sheer paradise, this was the second part of our holiday, 11 nights of heaven. The trip from the airport to the island was by speed boat, we were meet by an army of bell boys and the hotel duty manager at the boat dock. We were shown to the reception area and given a refreshing towel and a cool drink. After checking in we were escorted to our accommodation were we found our cases laid out for us to unpack. The room was very nice split level with a sitting area and a sleeping area. Every thing very clean with the bed and towels changed every day, beds turned down in the evening and flowers placed on your pillows. Outside was also very clean an army of worker tending to gardens and the beach. The sand was pure white and very soft the sea very warm, torques colour. We went all-inclusive which we felt was a good idea as thing such as food and drinks are quite expensive. Food was very good but a little limited in choice. The island is very small it takes 15 minutes to walk around and thats with a stop to feed the fish. Trips are also limited, we went sea fishing and shopping to Male the main island, both good fun. In the main bar they have entertainment of an evening, you can sit at a table and be waited on. Even sitting around the swimming pool waiters would bring you a cool drink while we sunned ourself. I found that one wait would take care of you for most of your stay, they are looking for a tip when you finally leave. We were told $10 was a very good tip. We give our waiter $35 as he really looked after us, very large measures of good Scotch whisky. All drinks are premuim brands as are the beers and a very large selection even on the all inclusive bar menu. There were a few children at the resort they had a small play area but there was no club or reps to keep them entertained. We will return to the Maldives some day, up till now it has been the most relaxing holiday we have had.

Olhuveli Beach Resort - July 2004 |

An Excellent relaxing holiday, buffet meals were varied each day and of good quality no stomach upsets at all, beautiful lagoon around island where baby sharks and rays and nemo fish swim around you, the spa is worth a try to although we were lying there with noy a lot left for imagination (adam & eve massage right enough) but what the hell your on holiday!! Amazing airport where instaed of buses waitin to transfer you its a line of speedboats great set up. Our first night there we had to stay on fun island because of overbooking which was daunting at first but it was lovely too, we were given a free excursion a meal in a la carte and a fresh fruit basket in room because of this though, all inclusive is the best way out here would be more expensive if BB and Smirnoff Vodka is included!!
