Whilst holidaying in Northern Italy I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit Monaco for two days (one night).

Monaco really is impressive and is full of things to see and do. The Palace is well worth a visit and whilst there I would recommend watching the changing of the guard which takes place just before midday. Although it gets busy with tourists, it is still well worth it.

All around Monaco there are stunning views of the harbour and the yachts in it, which are out of this world and enough to make anyone want to earn enough money to own one!!

Monaco is a reasonably small place and is full of tall apartment blocks, but there are plenty of open areas including the Monte Carlo beach, which is well worth a visit. The waters of the Med are blue, clear, warm and inviting.

The Japanese gardens are also beautiful and the oceanographic museum and aquarium was also fun for a visit but it was expensive and there were queues to get in.

Whilst in Monaco a trip to Monte Carlo and its infamous casino is a must, if only to sit and watch the people milling around at Café de Paris, this area of Monaco is without a doubt the most expensive but is also truly beautiful and a great place for people watching and celebrity spotting!!

I stopped at the Alexandra Hotel in Monaco and would highly recommend it.
