We stayed at the Marriott for a long weekend in London on a dinner, show & hotel present which was very welcome (thanks Tina & Dave Smile ). We wathed 'Avenue Q' for the show and dined at the Angus Steakhouse.

The meal and show culture in London is well worth a try as most of the restaurants and shows are fantastic (albeit quite pricey when not part of a present Very Happy .

The following day we did some typical London tourist attractions which are well recommended:

London Dungeons - nothing traditional or cultural about this but very entertaining.

Tower of London - We saw the crown Jewels and got a taste of Medievil England.

River Cruise on the Thames - Very nice but tour guide trying to be funny was annoying.

London Shopping - Shopping around Oxford Circus and Knightsbridge (Harrods) was a nice (but expensive experience).

Very Happy stayed at Presidents Hotel in Bloomsbury, great location, could walk down to museum district and to theatre district and subway station was one block away. Accomodations were comparable to a Comfort Inn/Holiday Inn in Canada, breakfast was included but was not very good; however service in general was good.

We had 3 tours from Evans Tours, all of which were very good. Full day tour of London, a full day tour to Windsor, Bath and Stonehenge, a Jack the Ripper Tour (which was the least interesting). Very Happy

I really liked the Tower of London, St. Pauls Cathedral, the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace, the river cruise down the Thames, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the British Museum and on and on. There is something for everyone in this city. Very Happy

I took in 3 shows, Wicked, Jersey Boys and Female of the Species. I would highly recommend all three.

This is a city that I very much want to visit again.

London is a great travel destination for a few days (I guess anything longer than a few days maybe a little tough going). Despite being English, we had not visited London before in any tourist capacity and it was great to see what our capital city had to offer.

Our highlights included:

* The Tower of London - a great experience that really gets you involved in the dark and bloody history of Londons past (especially the Henry VIII era).

* The London Dungeons - expensive at about £18 each but nevertheless great fun and a bit of light entertainment relief from the touristy stuff.

* The National Gallery - Thoroughly enjoyed this, staring at the variety of famous paintings over the years.

* The Natural History Museum - Very enjoyable experience and great to see my childhood favorite dinosaur up close.

* Thames Cruise - A nice rexing way to spend an hour or two.

* London Bus Tour - Complete with head phones to learn all about the various places this was a geat way to get around the city.

* London Zoo - A little dissappointing and nothing ut of the ordinary in terms of zoo's. If anything, a little less impressive than the average zoo.

* Hyde Park - A great relaxing place to admire the incredible scenery

evening:

* Les Miserables Theatre productionh - A great evening and a great performance. Expensive at £60 each for the great seats but well worth it.

* Soho - Eating and drinking around here was expensive and perhaps better places.

All in All London has pretty much everything with a great tube and bus network to get around. The trael Inn was basibut comfortable but the location was ideal. Thoroughly recommended trip for anybody of all ages.
