It was my amition for about 20 to visit Kenya and go on some game drives and I have to say I was in no way dissapointed with any aspect of the whole 12 days. We travelled through Hayes and Jarvis who were more than helpfull and informative through the whole experience and including the weeks leading up to the holiday. We arrived in Nairobi on 2nd January 2006 and were met at The Stanley Hotel at around 7.00am by the rep who ran through our itinerary and advice on tips etc (my one critisism was that we did not have a chance to get out heads together before hand and a lot of what he said went in one ear and out the other!!). However, the Stanley was fantastic with security guards on every floor ready to greet us us with a 'jambo' and a tip of their hats! Hayes and Jarvis used Rhino Safaris as their Agent for the 6 days of game drives and I have to say that our driver who was called Grephus did a fantasic job. Driving from one lodge to another every day (this took anything from 5 hour to 7 hours at a time along unmade dusty roads) must have taken its toll but he said he was used to it and also took us on 2 or 3 hour game drives TWICE a day! We were lucky to see just about everything including Cheetah, Leopard, Elephants, Giraffe, Zebras (by the hundred) Eagles, Hippos....I could go on Not only did Grephus manage pack our days with view of the animals but he was also very knowledgeable, he drove extremely carefully and took us to a Samburu Village plus other Curio Shops. He did not try to encourage us to buy anything but after we bought some odds and ends from the Samburu Village, he told us that we had certainly bought some food for the villagers. We also took a balloon flight across the Masai Mara which was spectacular and had a champagne breakfast under an acacia tree cooked by a proper chef in full whites! Then after 6 days we flew to Mombasa where we were all inclusive at the Whitesands Hotel......FANTASTIC hotel and service and discretion 2nd to none.
