Beautiful city framed by the mountain and water. For a conference downtown, beautiful conference center on the water with views of the mountains. Neat little areas of downtown like Gastown And Yaletown provide upbeat hipster locales. Has a dingy side in the downtown east side, but safe to walk around, similar to most cities I've been to. Great restaurants, great vibe, and friendly people. Worth a stay. I lucked out with the weather, YMMV

Beautiful physical location, but the city is a dump, with weather to match. Had a hard time just getting across the border - they should be wearing swastikas. Walking around, found that a large portion of the city resembles one big skid row - alcoholics and addicts everywhere. If you want to see this part of the world, go to Seattle, where the food is edible, the weather isn't quite as bad, and the people aren't dirtbags.
