Kinsale is a most picturesque resort which is steeped in Medieval history. The town lies between green hills and the shoreline and is a maze of narrow streets with traditional Irish bars, small shops, cafes and colourful buildings scattered within its quaint streets. Cafes serving teas, homemade cakes, scones and pastries are well worth a visit! The pretty harbour lies on the estuary of the Brandon River just a short walk away from the town and here can be found a selection of rental accommodation. Harbour cruises and Sea Angling trips are also run weather permitting. Small marinas enhance the beauty of this place and Kinsale is also well recognised for its sailing and watersports activities. The temperature and weather in general was not as I would have expected for June, but I could easily imagine a picture postcard setting in better weather conditions. Kinsale is a 30 - 45 minute drive or bus ride through rolling green hills and winding roads from Cork City and is certainly a place well worth a visit for anyone who particularly enjoys stepping back in time!
