If you stay in this resort and hotel you will be pleased with your choice. The hotel itself is small with 30 rooms and it provides a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The bedrooms have recently been refurbished and although slightly small, provide everything you need as a base to stay. The unpretentious reception/bar area is charming and full of character - prices in the bar are very reasonable too with a glass of white wine costing only 2 euros! with outside seating provided.

The light airy dining room is lovely. You will be seated at the same table throughout your stay with your room number on the table - some tables are on the veranda outside. Buffet breakfast is help yourself and is continental style - try the croissants they are delicious. Your evening meal menu will be on your table as your choice is required in advance. These consist of three courses with a choice of two starters and two main courses and one dessert - waiter service is provided. The meals are quite plain but good nonetheless more often than not. If you do not like something cross it out on the menu and you will usually be offered an alternative - they are accommodating and willing to please. They do try to cater for the british tastes and there seems to be two menus with another for the Italian palate -if you wish to sample this should not be a problem as we spoke to others who had done so on a number of occassions throughtout their stay. Breakfast is early 7:30 to 9.00am and evening meals are served between 8.00pm and 9.00pm. We found this spot on as we liked to be up and about early with no restrictions on getting back to the hotel too early. A singer is usually in the restaurant each Thursday night to entertain and stays as long as the guests are there!

Some may find the scooter noise (especially if you are staying in a room at the front of the hotel irritating to start but you do get used to it - when you close over your balcony door which is double glazed you actually hear very little. Air conditioning is extra at 7 euros per day.

Minori itself is a lovely place to stay, although dependent on age and personal taste some may find too quiet. There are a handful of restaurants and bars and a few shops to look in. It is one of the least commercialised areas on the main Amalfi coast road but it is easy to access all other main areas. Buses and boats operate from Minori and once you check the timetable this should let you plan your exploring. Boats also offer trips to Capri and Ischia - early start c. 8.10am. Buses operate approx every half hour with some requiring to go to Amalfi first and then another bus out e.g. to Ravello.

Another good point is the hotel is on the flat which is good thing as you are out and about all the time. Compared to some other hotel prices we found this to be reasonable and to offer good value for money with the personal touch - no frills but had everything you need.

Check out their website for more information and internal photos. The whole Amalfi coast is beautiful with breathtaking scenery and the holiday is not predominantly a beach one (it would be a sin not to explore this alluring area). To hire a sunbed for the day costs around 14 euros per day!! There are also a few patches of free beach.

Keep an eye on the euros as they are parted from you all too easily in some areas more than others e.g. Positano and Sorrento.

We could only find the hotel it two brochures as Minori only has a handful of hotels but I think this is a good sign if you don't want to be with hoards of other tourists!

Arrived at Naples airport late Friday afternoon. The rep whisked us away with one other couple who also were going to Minori, she put us in a private taxi and in just over an hour we arrived at our hotel. The hotel looked lovely from the outside. Inside at reception we were given our key to our room which was on 2nd floor, we were told we could eat at 9pm as we had just arrived that evening.

The room was clean and had a balcony big enough for two chairs and a small table.
We went for dinner, the restuarant is on top floor which had great views. For dinner we had a pasta starter, main course was pork and fried potatoes and spinach and fruit or a cake for desert. The meal was pretty digusting !! During our weeks holiday we visited the resturant 4 times to be dissapointed each time, we decided to eat out for the rest of the holiday.( I FELT SORRY FOR PEOPLE WHO HAD NOT BUDGETED FOR EATING OUT).

Minori is a lovely little fishing village, there is a small beach on opposite side of the road to the bars and shops. There is a small square with a few cafe bars where we used to have a few drinks in the evening, chatting to people we met. Italians come here to eat, they like the fish resturants. The resturants are dotted about and there were two fantastic cake shops, also sold coffee and of course ice cream. Minori is not very busy,it is very oldy woldy and quaint.but we loved it !!

Amalfi is right next door to minori, we bought a bus ticket from the newsagent shop and went into amalfi one afternoon. Amalfi is much busier and lively, the whole of the amalfi coast is stunning, everywhere you look is a picture postcard. You can catch buses or boats from Amalfi to different places such as ravello ,positana. We did shopping for presents to take home, and we went in the church in amalfi,it`s beautiful!

Pompei and vesuvius, we went on the oraganised trip. Pompei is amazing the guide was also very good. Then he took us to vesuvius, the bus goes so far up the mountain,if you want to you can walk the rest of the way up to look in the crater. For this trip I suggest comfortable shoes. This trip was excelent !!

Rome, We went to Rome on the day before we returned home. This trip was a very long day indeed but well worth it. We set off at 7.30 in the morning, stopped off for breakfast about 9.00. We arrived in Rome about 12.15 we had our packed lunch. Our fist stop was Vatican City, st.peters basilica, when we got in the basilica we did not stay with the guide,we just did our own thing there`s so much to see.We met the guide later where she took us to the coliseum which also is amazing !! Then after that we went to Trevi Fountain, gets quite busy round here, people trying to throw their coins in.Took some photos then went for an ice-cream.Met back on the bus to make our journey back to the resort, stopped off on the way for our evening meal.We finally arrived back to the resort at 11.30pm a truly long day but well worth it. Rome is really amazing !!

We would definitely go back to the Amalfi coast again, but we would not stay in the Hotel Bristol.
Hello to friends we met.

Arrived on a friday at the hotel bristol, we was given our key to our room on the 2nd floor. We were informed that there was a tray of food waiting for us, it was a nice gesture but after a long travel we didnt feel like eating anything. Our room was for 3 adults but it was very small and one of sheets on the bed had not been changed. We then had to go to reception and try to get the evening porter to locate some clean sheets and pillowcase. This wasnt a good a good start and theres worse yet to come. The room was extremely hot as the air conditioning only worked at specific times at short intervals usually at late afternoon. Our first night was not only hot but we had to suffer scooters, mopeds, motorbikes, cars, vans and dustbin van during the whole night. None of us got one nights full sleep.

The next morning we went up for breakfast and there was a help yourself buffet. This was ok. Whereas the evening meal was a big disappointment. We was expecting good food but out of 14 days only 2 meals were acceptable. The waitress and waiters were friendly and were concerned when food was sent back hardly touched.
Minori is a small, pleasant village with good bars and restaurants. THe beach, although pebbley was adequate. However at times there was a lot of rubbish in the sea.

One of our weeks was celebrating the patron saint of Minori, which included fireworks, the procession and street illuminations. It was a special event and was very nice to see and added to the enjoyment of our holiday.

We hired a car and visited Pompei,Vesuvius, Sorrento,The Amalfi coast and Rome. The car was hired from Avis and their representative said he could only speak limited english and therefore didnt advise of the extra charges involved. £20 to deliver the car and £20 to take it back. Also rental % rate was 20 % so we ended up paying £180 for 2 days car hire. The hotel charged us 10Euros per day to park the car in their hotel car park which was nowhere near the hotel.

We enjoyed the holiday but wouldnt stop at the Hotel Bristol again.
