The Czech Republic is a small landlocked country in Central Europe, situated SE of Germany and bordering Austria to the S, Poland to the N and Slovakia to the SE. A young country (born in 1993), Czech Republic has matured quickly and offers tourists a variety of experiences. From the pulsing capital Prague to the back-in-time villages of Moravia, from toiling up mountains to lounging in spas, from the world-famous Pilsner to the strains of Smetana and Dvorák, there's an experience to suit every taste.

The country capital, Prague, is the most popular spot for tourists. It is one of the world’s most beautiful and cultured cities with castles and chateauxs, churches and spires, and a dynamic music and arts scene to rival any in Europe. The capital attracts the vast majority of its tourists and is one of the most popular weekend breaks from other European destinations.

Those that do venture outside Prague are in the minority but are rewarded for their efforts. The brewery towns of Plzeň and České Budějovice offer some of the countries finest (and arguably Europes finest) beer. Tourists can also discover the laid-back backpacker scenes in Český Krumlov and Telč. The Czech countryside is also a major attractions for tourists interested in hiking, cycling and cross-country skiing, with hundreds of kilometres of marked and organised trails tranversing the landscape.
