Santa Eulalia, Ibiza's third largest resort is only 21 kms from the airport and is a beloved destination for families and those seeking a quieter holiday. Measuring ¼ ml wide and ¾ ml long, this cosmopolitan resort is favoured by the artistic community.
There is a beautiful, palm-lined promenade running the length of the broad and sandy beach, (which is perfectly safe for the kids), and some excellent hotels and apartments in and around the town itself. The waters are clean and shallow, safe for children and very inviting for less confident swimmers. There are excellent water-sport facilities, and the water quality is very high. The main thoroughfare that cuts through the middle of town is congested with traffic at most times during the day. To the E is a modern and exclusive marina with many expensive yachts and pricey restaurants. W across the river, connected by footbridge, is the pleasant residential hillside district of La Siesta, filled with apartments, villas and well-maintained gardens. 3-star hotels predominate on the outskirts of the resort, with mainly 1- and 2-key apartments in the town centre. More modern and upmarket apartments can be found in La Siesta. Santa Eulalia has a long-established reputation as the island's gastronomic and cultural centre. Locality: Santa Eulalia is located on the SE coast of the island, 2 mls SW of Es Cana, 9 mls NE of Ibiza Town, 13 mls NE of the international airport. The area is backed by pine-covered hills, in a semicircular bay next to the only river in the Balearic Islands, which often runs dry. The town centre itself is on gently sloping ground. |
