The historic town of Riva Del Garda has a relaxed atmosphere and features a variety of fashionable shops, numerous cafes and restaurants along the promenade and near the harbour. However, the modern part of town to the E is both crowded and unattractive with many bland apartment blocks and hotels dating from the 70s. The central and ancient part of town is pedestrianised and most attractive with medieval arches, old Palazzos and merchant warehouses.
The main road along which you must walk is noisy and dirty. There are plenty of fashionable shops. A local market on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. There are regular buses to Arco, Trento and around the lake. Boat trips available daily. Locality: Riva Del Garda is situated at the N end of the lake to the W of where the river Sarca flows into Lake Garda. Behind, the Arco valley is called the "Gateway to the Dolomites" and to the W there is Mount Maddalena. Approximately 90 mls Milan; 120 mls Venice Airport. |
