Pineda De Mar is quieter than the closest neighbouring towns and retains more of its original character. Pineda de Mar has a more attractive residential district, an 11th-century church and a small fishing fleet.
There are fewer hotels, bars and restaurants right on the sea front than some of its neighbours. The railway line separates the village from the beach, as elsewhere along this part of the coast. There are pedestrian subways and crossings at fairly long intervals which allow access to the beach, though the main access is via a level crossing by the station. Locality: Pineda De Mar is in north east Spain, on the Mediterranean coast, midway along Costa Brava. (it is 10 mls SW of Lloret de Mar. 37 mls NE of Barcelona. 34 mls S of Gerona, and 30 mls S of its airport). It is situated on generally flat land between the sea and steep wooded hills. |
