Matagorda is situated on the South East coast of Lanzarote, (3 mls NE of Puerto del Carmen, 6 mls SW of Arrecife and 3 mls S of the airport). The resort is a mile or so along the coastal road from Puerto del Carmen and is dominated by the sandy beach bearing the same name. There is a good selection of shops and restaurants to choose from, the commercial centre has plenty of places to eat, offering everything from pizza to paella.

This area is suitable for those looking for a chilled, relaxing holiday, as it is quieter and more restrained than neighbouring Puerto del Carmen.

The accommodation here is moderate to good apartments, modern and well-equipped.
