La Massana is in the mid-west region of the principality (4 mls NW of Andorra la Vella, 2½ mls SE of Arinsal, 140 mls S of Toulouse airport, 160 mls N of Barcelona airport ). It is situated along a steep-sided, tiered valley running south west to north east. It is a traditional village whose growth has been spawned by its relatively close proximity to a choice of ski-mountains. Its attraction lies in its low-key surroundings, little touched by commercial trends.

The area suits those seeking a low-key base with little nightlife and more affordable skiing than that offered by mainstream European resorts. You will find mainly couples and families. There is nothing much for the younger set. Often inundated by skiing Spaniards at weekends.

The accommodation consists mainly of hotels which are generally adequate with little in the way of sophistication or upmarket appeal.
