Kemer Travel Guide

Overview Things to do Suitability Country Info (Turkey)
Created from nothing with the aid of World Bank finance, Kemer is a small town by the sea. Building has been subject to fairly tight controls, resulting in a pleasant but sanitised resort. It is pricey and decidedly un-Turkish; the only people here are tourists and those who aim to profit from them.

The more recent spurt of development has been along the stretch of coast a few mls N in and around the pleasant seaside hamlet of Beldibi, with its own handful of informal restaurants, minimarkets, a post office and a few jewellery shops (but precious little else).

It is no place to find Byzantine bazaars or explore Roman ruins. Development here, particularly accommodation, spreads S, straddling the local coast road, and includes the beach area of Goynuk. Club and complex developments are continuing to sprout up at the rate of two or three a year. Kemer itself also has a modern, well-equipped marina.

    Locality:

Kemmer is 27 miles south of Antalya, and 6 miles from Beldibi. (32 mls from airport). Flat, wooded valley bottom interrupting a continuous wall of spectacular, soaring mountains.
