Overview Things to do Suitability Country Info (Ireland)
Donegal, the most northerly county in Ireland, extends along much of the north-west coast. The county town of Donegal is Lifford, and Letterkenny is the county's largest town. Donegal town is situated at the mouth of Donegal Bay, on the River Eske and is overshadowed by the Bluestack Mountains. The town is bypassed by the N15 and N56 roads.

Donegal is a county famous for its scenery - with a beautiful, much indented coast, great areas of mountains, deep glens and many lakes. All kinds of rock, form a cave-riddled limestone to complicated mixtures of igneous rocks, make up the foundations of the county; and it is this that gives it so much variety of form and colour to the scenery.
