The Northern Marianas comprise 14 tropical islands stretching across 400 miles, adjacent to the famed Marianas trench with the world's greatest known ocean depth of nearly 36,000 feet. Oceania, islands in the North Pacific Ocean, about three-quarters of the way from Hawaii to the Philippines.

The climate here is tropical marine, moderated by northeast trade winds, little seasonal temperature variation; dry season December to June, rainy season July to October. There are active volcanoes on Pagan and Agrihan; typhoons are common (especially August to November)

Saipan, the most populated island in the group and a popular resort destination, is endowed with blue lagoons, white sand beaches and verdant hills. The clear waters of the island and its coral reefs are home to more than a thousand colorful and exotic species of marine life.

Good facilities and conditions exist for all levels of sport divers. Sheltered wreck and reef dives inside the lagoons are ideal for novices and experienced divers alike. The drop offs and blue water dives outside the reefs offer experienced divers big fish action and spectacular coral formations.

Rota is relatively undeveloped and offers a chance to experience the natural beauty of the Marianas. The dense jungle, prolific wildlife and solitary stretches of white sand beaches remain largely undisturbed.

Lush, living reefs with hundreds of species of tropical fish, coral, sponges and crustaceans can be seen in crystal clear waters. Fascinating wrecks from World War II -- airplanes, submarines, tanks, ships -- can be seen in this virgin diving territory. Numerous dive operators are available on both Saipan and Rota to cater to divers of all levels.
