Israel from a tourist perspective offers a coral snorkeling and scuba diving adventure at the red sea, pictoresque scenery at the sea of galilee but more than 85% of tourists visit this country to experience the holy land. Unfortunately political unrest and violence has hit the tourist industry hard in Israel for the last few years leaving the holiday trade in constant decline. However, for the many who put this slight risk aside the Holy Land whether it be a short cruise from Egypt, Cyprus or a holiday in itself, provides an uplifting experience.

Most visits to the Holy Land are ushered in with a trip to the capital city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the walled city at its centre divided into three parts: Modern Jerusalem, The Mount of Olives and Mount Zion, and the Old City -- the Old City is made up of the Jewish Quarter, the Muslim Quarter, the Christian Quarter, and the Armenian Quarter. Experience the Western Wall, Hurva Square, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, gardens of gethsemane (pictured above) and many other important sites. Jerusalem and the Holy Land details the history and beauty of this land from the Sea of Galilee to the Negev Desert. Whether you're visiting St. Catherine's Monastery or exploring the coral reefs in the Red Sea, this country offers a wealth of attractions for a fabulous holiday experience.

Israel is a land saturated with the import of its position as the cradle of Judaism, Christianity and Islam alike. This complexity flows into the diversity of the natural landscape that varies from the salty serenity of the Dead Sea to the verdant national parks and the parched desert plateaus.
