US Virgin Islands Travel Guide

The US Virgin Islands are a popular Caribbean Island not due to their fantastic beaches and crystal clear waters, more so as a result of being among the popular cruise ship circuits. Daily crusie landings have meant that the port towns of Charlotte Amalie, Christiansted and Frederiksted are usually swamped with newly arrived passengers in a frenzy of shopping and dining. The island's main beaches are rarely deserted and the key reef areas are often a flurry of flippers and snorkels. Expensive luxury resorts and fine hotels share the streets with old colonial architecture. Yet it is still possible to escape the crowds and find that bit of elusive paradise, to relax away from the divers and sailors, the sightseers, the ecological tour groups, and the shoppers.

The largest of the U.S. Virgins, St. Croix has a remarkably diverse and beautiful landscape ranging from a lush tropical rainforest to desert vegetation.

St. John is the smallest and remains the most non-commercial and low key of the islands. Over fifty percent of its total area is preserved and maintained by the National Park Service.

St. Thomas has busy ports with an abundance of duty-free shops, historic buildings, waterfront views and some of the best beaches in the West Indies.

Water Island offers seclusion, privacy, peace and quiet, but with easy access to St. Thomas. Called "Last of the Virgins" it's so secret that some official maps don't include it.

Sometimes referred to as "America's Paradise", they remain some of the most sought after destinations in the world. The U.S. Virgin Islands offer diversity as both vacation and business opportunity locations.
