Wadduwa is a quiet stretch of coast near a tiny fishing community, a mile off the busy coast road where the village centre is located. Kalutara and Wadduwa are recognised by wide palm-fringed beaches and an important Buddhist shrine denotes Kalutara. One of the country's largest rivers, the Kalu Ganga flows into the sea here. The area is well known for reed basket ware and the best mangosteens in the country.
A fantastic destination for Tropical sun-seekers. A Romantic location for those looking for a foreign wedding.
There is a handful of self-contained resort-style beachfront complexes located away from village.
Wadduwa is situated on the south west coast of Sri Lanka, 21 mls south of Colombo, 45 mls S of Bandaranaike international airport and 6 mls north of Kalutara. Simple coastal strip backed by lush countryside and main coast road.
The beaches are long, undeveloped stretch of gently shelving sand backed by palm trees and railway line. The ocean can be rough and currents strong, so generally not good for swimming. Beaches outside major hotels are cleaned each day.
There is little in immediate vicinity. A few shops in Kalutara.
All entertainment in this area is hotel based.
Local restaurants in Kalutara offering a wide variety of international cuisine..
