More typically Greek than any other resort on the island; home to olive groves and local farms. You are more likely to see a donkey here than anywhere else on the island. Vasilikos is a large sprawling resort, very hilly with long, winding roads.

This area is suitable for beach and nature lovers, due to its distance from the madding crowds.

The area mainly consists of basic self-catering studios, but there are one or two hotels but not much else.

Vasilikos is located on one of two peninsulas that extend SE from the island like pincers. 11 mls SE of Zakynthos and 12 mls SE of the airport. On SE coast of the island. Area is formed by the Skopos mountain range.

You'll be spoilt for choice for beaches while holidaying in Vasilikos . The coastline here is beautiful, and there are watersports galore at Banana Beach, Porto Zorro Beach and St Nicholas Beach.

After your fill of sand and sea, spend relaxing evenings in the handful of tavernas and bars dotted along the coastal road through Vassilikos and in the village of St Nicholas.

There are exchange facilities in the hotels and mini-market, and the nearest bank is in Zakynthos Town. Don't miss out on the island's fabulous scenery. Take an organised tour of the island, or why not hire a car?

Shoppingwise, there are not a great deal of local crafts but ample minimarkets. Just enough facilities to live day to day.

Activities here mainly consists of sunbathing, water sports and long walks in the mountains and pine forests. The nightlife is vibrant, with various discos and bars, but the only access is by car or moped.

There are several very good traditional Greek tavernas serving typical Greek dishes such as souvlaki, kleftiko and stifado.
