Santa Eulalia, Ibiza's third largest resort is only 21 kms from the airport and is a beloved destination for families and those seeking a quieter holiday. Measuring ¼ ml wide and ¾ ml long, this cosmopolitan resort is favoured by the artistic community.
There is a beautiful, palm-lined promenade running the length of the broad and sandy beach, (which is perfectly safe for the kids), and some excellent hotels and apartments in and around the town itself.
The waters are clean and shallow, safe for children and very inviting for less confident swimmers. There are excellent water-sport facilities, and the water quality is very high.
The main thoroughfare that cuts through the middle of town is congested with traffic at most times during the day. To the E is a modern and exclusive marina with many expensive yachts and pricey restaurants. W across the river, connected by footbridge, is the pleasant residential hillside district of La Siesta, filled with apartments, villas and well-maintained gardens.
3-star hotels predominate on the outskirts of the resort, with mainly 1- and 2-key apartments in the town centre. More modern and upmarket apartments can be found in La Siesta. Santa Eulalia has a long-established reputation as the island's gastronomic and cultural centre.
Santa Eulalia is located on the SE coast of the island, 2 mls SW of Es Cana, 9 mls NE of Ibiza Town, 13 mls NE of the international airport. The area is backed by pine-covered hills, in a semicircular bay next to the only river in the Balearic Islands, which often runs dry. The town centre itself is on gently sloping ground.
Santa Eulalia is the perfect place to go out for a pub drink, a quizz or some good old fashioned pub-grub - clubbing and house music was left to the other resorts.
However, in recent years, this has now changed with the advent of music bar Guarana in the Marina. Boasting residents Matt Caselli (resident funky room Pacha) and Julian Amour (resident terrace for La Troya in Amnesia) as well as surprise guests such as Reche (resident Space), you can dance, chill on the terrace, drink cocktails and listen to the latest funky house sounds.
Below the splendid promenade, the Town Hall have created an extremely good long, wide beach of fine, white sand drawn from the sea.
Of all the resorts on Ibiza, Santa Eulalia has become the most popular with people who appreciate good food; they have discovered that the restaurants in this delightful little town offer a surprising wealth of choice - of types of dishes, location, style and ambience. Siesta Beach is small and secluded, located on the other side of the river. Waters are generally calm.
Daytime offers most water sports, including diving, sailing, windsurfing, parascending, banana boats and pedalloes. For non-water types tennis, squash, boat excursions including glass-bottomed boat trips are available.
In the evening there is only 1 public disco, otherwise, music bars or entertainment are all provided within hotels.
