The charming village of Port Douglas is located 60km north of Cairns International Airport, in Tropical North Queensland Australia.  The drive north from Cairns on the Captain Cook Highway has fantastic coastal scenery.

Port Douglas is the nearest mainland town to the Great Barrier Reef and the world heritage rainforests of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation are at your doorstep making this a popular vacation destination for both both Australian and overseas visitors.

You will find that no matter when you visit Tropical North Queensland, the weather will be warm.  In the cooler months (June - October) temperatures range from an average overnight low of 17°C to a high of 29°C.  During the remainder of the year the temperatures range from 19°C to 32°C.

Port Douglas is in the far north of Queensland, (25 mls NW of Cairns and its international airport, along Capt Cook Highway. It is backed by the Atherton Tableland, with the Mossman Gorge cutting into it just to the N and the Daintree River and National Park just beyond that.

There are many ways to explore the beautiful region through a vast array of holiday activities, from a guided tour in a comfortable, air-conditioned four-wheel drive, being taken to the depths of the ancient Daintree Rainforest, to speeding over the waves to the outer reef to enter a whole new world of colour & movement underwater on the Great Barrier Reef, or even a train ride through the awesome natural beauty of our Outback.

Port Douglas is also renowned for its wide range of fine restaurants , cafés, coffee shops and take-aways. There are more than 50 eating establishments in and around Port Douglas offering everything from a low priced pub meal to five star gourmet dining.

A visit to Port Douglas is not complete without an early morning or evening stroll or bike ride along the wide sandy stretches of Four Mile Beach.  The sand is firm and perfect for walking, jogging, riding a bicycle or simple lying back and enjoying the tropical atmosphere.
