Liverpool is, of course, already famous as the birthplace of The Beatles and the home of one of the world's most well known football/Soccer clubs, the city's other cultural assets are justifiably touted as some of the finest in Europe. With more theatres, museums and galleries than any other UK city outside London, Liverpool's history as one of the world's great ports has left a remarkable legacy of art and architecture that gives it a distinctive look and unique atmosphere.
Liverpool was once a thriving port at the forefront of world trade, and today the city boasts some stunning architecture that is testament to its former wealth and status.
And having been subject to extensive immigration over several hundred years, Liverpool is one of the most ethnically mixed cities in the UK, giving it a colour and vibrancy all of its own.
Liverpool has recently undergone extensive restoration and rejuvenation, and as a result today it is one of England's most exciting and interesting cities.
With interesting museums, superb art galleries and world class tourist attractions, Liverpool is definitely worth a visit.
Liverpool is also one of the world's great sporting cities with horse racing at Aintree and Haydock, 40 golf courses - seven of which are Championship standard, including the Royals Birkdale and Lytham, not to mention Liverpool and Everton FC.

Liverpool Sefton Park Palm House: The newly refurbished Palm House, originally opened in 1896 to a design by Mackenzie and Moncur, is octagonal in plan with three tiers of glass domes on arcading. Speke Hall: The original house of the Norris family dates from 1490 and was enlarged in 1610 to include the superb Tudor Great Hall. The house is surrounded by a moat and stands in its own wooded park.
St George's Hall Guided Tour: This Grade 1 building had its foundation stone laid in 1838 as the site of a new site for an annual music festival.An open competition led to the design being awarde to the 23 year old Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, Elmes tragically died seven years before the building was completed in 1854.
