This is an established tourist resort which started life as a fishing village, but now offers every type of holiday facility. Despite the huge influx of summer visitors, Kassiopi remains very much a working village. The harbour is very picturesque and the ruins on the headland date from Roman times
This is a lively resort, attracting mixed clientele, but without the antisocial behaviour sometimes found in larger resorts.
The accommodation here offers the preponderance of apartments in the village centre and scattered throughout the surrounding countryside.
Kassiopi is at the north east corner of the island, (it is 22½ mls N of Corfu Town and the airport). It is in the foothills of Pantokrator Mountain, approached from either side by scenic coast roads.
There are shingle and pebble bays on either side of the harbour provide safe swimming, but involve a walk of at least 300 yds by stony footpath. Imerolia Beach is ½ ml from the centre.
Shopping here is mainly the locals spin, weave and dye thread by hand. Rugs, hand-made lace and embroidery are specialities. A number of smartish clothes shops have also sprung up.
The nightlife here offers 3 discos and plenty of bars, including cocktail and video bars. One or 2 locals' bars have survived.
For eating out it ranges from tavernas to sophisticated restaurants, including Italian and Chinese.
