Holiday guide Bitez

Overview:

The bay at Bitez is one of Turkey's premier watersports locations. There is a varied selection of bars and restaurants along the waterfront and some nightlife. The town of Bodrum is about 15 minutes away by car. This quiet, tiny, traditional agricultural community is built on a sheltered bay popular for water sports and fronted by hotels. A small jetty receives local day-trippers arriving by boat.

Locality:

Bitez is situated on the SW coast of Turkey, on the Aegean Sea, 6 mls W of Bodrum town, 36 mls SW of Bodrum airport, 136 mls NW of Dalaman airport, 156 mls S of Izmir airport. Bitez is set on a rugged peninsula, sheltered by hills on either side.

Entertainment/Facilities/Attractions/Things to do:

Most popular with those seeking a relaxed quiet holiday, beach and watersports. Accommodation consists mainly of B&B's and pensions; a few self catering apartments/holiday homes can also be found in the area. The beach here is ultra-narrow and hardly allows the average human body to stretch out with feet facing the sea. Popular attractions in Bitez consist of water sports, such as parasailing and windsurfing, speed-boat rides, cruises aboard gulets (traditional sailing vessels). By night the area is very subdued; what there is is provided by a couple of bars and occasionally the hotels. There is easy access, however, to lively Bodrum.
