Overview:

Enjoying the advantage of a short transfer time from Antalya Airport, belek, located between Antalya and Side, is part of a new tourist region where everything has been done to attract the holidaymarker. Intact, however, are most of the forests, thick with pine and eucalyptus, which stretch down to a marvelous and almost limitless beach of golden sand. The area consists of various hotels, clubs and holiday villages, each vying with the other in architectural creativity. Sporting types will love it for theres a wealth of activity on hand. Transfer time from Antalya Airport approx. 25 mins. Developed purely for tourism since the early 1990s, this sprawling resort encompasses the 2 villages of Belek and Kadriye. Belek village is just a crossroads with food stores, cafes and a few gift shops. Kadriye is busier, with lots of bazaars spilling out into interesting side streets. The resort serves as the golfing capital of the area, with a national course as well as numerous other courses and practice facilities.

Locality:

Situated almost halfway along the S coast of Turkey, 25 mls E of Antalya and 30 mls NW of Alanya. 17 mls E of Antalya airport by good, fairly fast road. Belek is positioned on a flat coastal plain with scattered pine forests and agricultural and developing land. The Taurus Mountains can be seen in the distance farther inland.

Entertainment/Facilities/Attractions/Things to do:

Belek is a big hit with golf fanatics, lively beach-loving families and consists manily of German visitors. Accommodation consists of a variety of self-contained 5-star properties on the coast, with private beaches and a wide range of sports and entertainments programmes. There are small pensions and B&Bs in the 2 village centres. Belek also has a few cafes, gift shops and minimarkets along with a range of designer boutiques. There is a greater choice of shopping at at Kadriye, where the side roads have a range of low-budget gift shops and bazaars selling cheap fashion clothing widely available in the UK. Popular excursions consist of: shopping, sightseeing and the ancient harbour at Antalya; waterfalls at Manavgat; hot springs at Pamukkale; Ruins at Perge and Aspendos; Jeep safaris to mountains; rafting at Koprulu River and diving at Kemer.
