Overview:

Baveno is just along the lakeshore from Stresa, and is a quieter, more often chosen as a more affordable alternative to its neighbouring Stresa. It has a pretty lakeside promenade but fairly uninteresting town. The main road along lakefront is very busy and traffic lights in centre cause long hold-ups at peak times.

Locality:

Baveno is located on W shore of lake, 2 mls from Stresa, 50 mls from Milan, 30 mls from Malpensa airport and 25 mls from Swiss border. Baveno faces the Borromean islands; views of mountains in distance and behind.

Entertainment in the area generally consists of varied walks behind town and boat trips, otherwise very few daytime activities available in resort and no nightlife.
