Holiday guide Anaheim

Overview:

Welcome to California's premier playground! Anaheim's best-known attraction is, of course, The Disneyland Resort, which includes Disney land and Disney's California Adventure. The area is also home to the world-famous theme park, Knott's Berry Farm, as well as a number of other themed entertainment areas, water parks and zoos. When it comes to fun-filled days and entertaining nights, you need look no further than these attractions! Anaheim is certainly the most bustling suburb of California. The area had previously been farmland, producing citrus crops, strawberries and even wine grapes before Walt Disney opened Disneyland in the mid-1950s. It now consists mainly of housing tracts and corner "mini-malls". However, it is just 15-20 mls from some of Orange County's best beaches, namely Huntington and Newport, which are popular with surfers, swimmers and sunbathers alike.

Locality:

Anaheim is situated in the very SW of the United States, in S California's Orange County (28 mls SE of downtown Los Angeles, 31 mls SE of Los Angeles International Airport, 16 mls N of John Wayne/Orange County airport). Anaheim is set in midst of sprawling megalopolis that fills the largely flat Los Angeles basin. Surrounded by other suburban-style cities.

Entertainment/Facilities/Attractions/Things to do:

Entertainment and attractions here are heavily centred around Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm and other park attractions. Also popular are the Edison International Field, a 45,050-seat sports stadium (home to Anaheim Angels baseball team), an ice hockey arena and Several museums and theatres. Excursions from the area consist of half day trips to San Juan Capistrano, a Spanish mission founded in the late 1700s; Laguna Beach, noted for its galleries and summer art festivals; LA & Hollywood by Night guided tour and full day: tours of film studios; Sea World; San Diego Zoo. 2 days: Las Vegas; Tijuana, Mexico.
